Google’s coming out with Froyo (Android 2.2) soon and, guess what? I’m more excited about it than I thought I’d be. Features look good, esp. the wifi hotspot-ability, among others. I also love the fact that Google Voice is now open to the public (get yo GV digits now!). One more thing: Check out the Droid X. By July it will be running Froyo and Flash 10.1.
Of course, the timing is impeccable with iPhone iOS 4.
We live in interesting times. Let’s see how this froes.

I appreciate that they released the code to programmers so the manufacturers could get it out earlier themselves. (announced same day as the Droid X press conference) I can’t wait for the Froyo update to my EVO. I think it makes a bigger impact with Android because the OS isn’t as refined as Apple’s. Therefore and upgrade garners larger improvement (hopefully) than what Apple did to theirs.

Yeah, I certainly hope so too.
Here’s the main problem with Android for me: UX. The reason why Apple wants that much control is to cater to the end users — so the developers “suffer” more.
On the other hand, Android caters to the developers more, but then the end users suffer more.
The diff in my mind is the user experience, and not features. Pound for pound, Android devices had better features. The “meta” of this is that users want things to “just work.”
If anyone has a chance at catching up w/ Apple, i’d put my money on Google. But it’ll take years of grinding it out.
